STORAGE
Every Studio Avana piece comes with a small plastic baggie and anti-tarnishing to slow the natural oxidizing of the metal. We encourage you to store your piece in its baggy in order to reduce natural tarnishing, protect your metal from scratches and prevent fiber designs from getting snagged. AVOID storing pieces in high moisture areas, even if stored in a baggie.

CARE TIPS
STORAGE. Store your Studio Avana pieces as recommended above.
BEAUTY FIRST. Apply your makeup, perfume, hair products (hairspray, etc) before putting on your jewelry.
CLEAN HANDS. Skin care lotions, oils, sweat, etc. could stain the fibers and encourage metal tarnishing.
WATER. A bit of water will not harm your fiber/metal piece, but please remove your jewelry before swimming or showering.

FIBER CLEANING. Fiber pieces can be very gently cleaned with a q-tip and mild dish soap. Dab lightly but DO NOT RUB since the friction could cause threads to fray. Allow pieces to air-dry completely before storing. Dry metal thoroughly to prevent spotting.
METAL CLEANING. Here are several options for cleaning your brass and sterling silver pieces. (PLEASE NOTE: If your metal has been intentionally oxidized, and you desire to keep it that way, please follow instructions for Option 1 and work gently)...

OPTION 1: Silver/Brass Polishing Cloth. These cloths are 100% cotton flannel cloth and thoroughly impregnated with cleaning and polishing agents formulated for brass or silver. This is the safest method for pieces that hold fiber designs! You will still need to be careful to avoid contact with fibers.

OPTION 2: 1 tbsp Lemon Juice + 4 tbsp Baking Soda. Mix to create paste. Gently massage the brass with the paste, rinse and dry thoroughly. (If your brass has a directional satin finish, be sure to scrub your piece in the direction of the finish.)

OPTION 3: Brasso Brass Cleaner. Follow instructions on bottle. Please use in a well ventilated area.

OUR FAVORITE OPTION for metal only pieces: Use Steel Wool Grade-00. Tear off a small piece of steel wool, add water and a small amount of household soap. Gently buff your pieces until you reveal a beautiful, bright golden finish. Rinse and dry thoroughly. (If your brass has a directional satin finish, be sure to buff your piece in the direction of the finish.)
NOTE: DO NOT use abrasives on 14k Gold-filled ear wires. Please clean with soap and water only.
METAL POLISH/PROTECT. Before shipment, each Studio Avana piece is polished with Renaissance Wax. This will help slow tarnishing and protect pieces from fingerprints and water spots. It's an excellent protectant for many things if you'd like to keep a can around!
